The Environment Department exchanges knowledge and best practices of the circular economy in Basque companies with the region of Baden-Württemberg
In the various meetings held by the visiting technical staff, the aim was to exchange knowledge, share experiences and strengthen ties of collaboration with this federal state, a leader in the development of tools such as eco-design, fundamental for the application of circular production models. They also got to know at first hand the climate policy experience of the German region and the international cooperation of Baden-Württemberg through its participation in international networks of regions such as Under2Coalition from which current environmental challenges such as climate protection and energy are addressed jointly.
Baden-Württemberg is Germany's third largest state (35,741 km2) and has the third largest population (10.8 million). Its environmental protection measures include sustainability, efficient energy use, the correct use of raw materials and the fight against climate change..
In the meetings held at the Ministry's headquarters, the activities developed by the Basque Country and Baden-Württemberg in the field of eco-design, resource efficiency and the circular economy were presented. Likewise, the possible areas of cooperation and exchange opportunities between the two regions were shared.
The visit concluded with a meeting with the heads of the Regional Agency for Environmental Technology and Resource Efficiency (UTBW), a body belonging to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and Energy Management.
