Ihobe participates in a gathering with more than 50 international experts within the framework of the Pyrenees Climate Change Observatory
The cross-border gathering was used to make progress in the activities of the OPCC in four specific areas: climate, resilient natural spaces, adapted mountain economy and territory. In turn the Technical Committee considered a number of funding possibilities in Europe for the implementation of the climate projects to be developed within the framework of the actions that comprise the Operational Plan for 2030 of the Pyrenees Climate Change Strategy.

Since its creation, the OPCC seeks to monitor and understand climate change in the Pyrenees in order to help the region adapt to its impacts. Its Technical Committee, with the participation of Ihobe, Public Society of Environmental Management of the Basque Government, representing the Basque Country, is currently working on the activities that will be used as a lever to implement the Pyrenees Climate Change Strategy.

The Basque Country in the CTP

In early February 2022, the Basque President Iñigo Urkullu visited the headquarters of the Pyrenees Working Community in Jaca (Huesca) after taking on its presidency in December last year.

The Basque Country will preside the Pyrenees Working Community until 2023

During the Basque presidency of the CTP until 2023, the main objectives that will be worked on include the reduction of inequality; fostering heritage and cultural diversity in multilingual territories, promoting the languages of each region; overcoming the digital gap between urban and rural areas; and promoting the participation and development of young people, with a view on the European Year of Youth (2022).

During a speech after sharing the priorities of the CTP in this stage, the Basque President stated his intention of continuing with the objectives defined in the Pyrenees Climate Change Strategy: development of shared public infrastructures and services; socio-economic cooperation; environmental policy and climate change adaptation; and cultural and educational exchanges.
