Measurement as a means of achieving more circular organisation. Practical cases in the electricity sector

Medir para avanzar hacia una organización más circular. Casos prácticos en el sector eléctrico

The circular economy entails doing more with less, boosting competitiveness and reducing environmental impact. It is a clear concept, however, the difficulty lies in measuring the progress made, particularly for organisations.

Focusing on “measuring to improve”, the publicly-owned company Ihobe has carried out an analysis of the tools used by organisations to evaluate their performance when it comes to the circular economy. The sector used for this pilot analysis is the electricity sector, although its findings can be extrapolated to any other industry.

During the conference, the conclusions of the analysis performed will be presented, as will an international methodology for evaluating the circularity of organisations and the progress being made to develop ISO circular economy standards.

Participants will also present the companies Iberdrola and EDP as success stories, member organisations of the Basque Ecodesign Center which, in collaboration with the publicly-owned company Ihobe, have already embarked on the process of integrating circular economy indicators in their management practices.

The Energy Cluster will also present the work it is doing to identify areas of interest in the circular economy for the energy sector in collaboration with the Aclima Cluster.

The meeting will be particularly significant for industrial companies wanting to incorporate circular economy criteria in their processes, and supply chains, which will be driven by these companies.
