‘Driving the competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs in the Basque Country’

BasquESG: the initiative rolling out a sustainability reporting and assessment system for Basque SMEs.

BasquESG in three pillars

BasquESG is the Basque Government initiative that is driving a streamlined, common system that is aligned with Europe so that the Basque SMEs can assess and report their sustainability performance (ESG), bolster their competitiveness and meet the demands of customers, the value chain and financial agents and investors.

  • PILLAR 1: A transformative project - The BasquESG initiative is one of the transformative projects of the Basque Industry Plan 2030 and seeks to roll out a sustainability assessment system among SMEs.

  • PILLAR 2: Its governance - The initiative establishes a private-public governance model led by the Basque Government which also entails technical, financial and business representation.

  • PILLAR 3: Participatory - BasquESG is focused on Basque SMEs, but it also involves trailblazing companies, financial institutions and the administration itself to drive sustainability from every angle.
