The Basque Country, a European benchmark for sustainability transition in practice

The Basque Country, a European benchmark for sustainability transition in practice

Ihobe has been invited to take part in the II C4T Conference - Sustainability Transitions in Cohesion Policy: From Policy to Practices, to be held in Brussels

The Basque Country, as an advanced adaptation region, has received technical support from the Cohesion for Transitions (C4T) Community of Practice to bolster the sustainable transition of European regions, municipalities and communities. Thanks to this joint action and C4T funding, Ihobe has recently announced a call to tender for an assessment to quantify the economic impact of climate change in the Basque Country taking into account the costs of failing to take climate adaptation action, along with the costs and benefits of the adaptation of the territory.

Ihobe will present its economic assessment of the impact that failing to take climate adaptation action may have in the Basque Country given the effects caused by climate change

This economic assessment, along with the setting up of transformative adaptation projects, will help climate adaptation – along with the associated private and public investment – to be informed, proportionate, effective and efficient. C4T is using the experience of the Basque Country to provide a perspective on the challenges, successes and lessons learnt for other regions that opt for C4T GROUNDWORK funding.
