Nature-Based Solutions in the Basque Country. 20 success stories for adapting to climate change by applying NBS

    26/09/2024

This document provides a brief contextualisation of the NBS, as well as their role in the policy, planning, and financing framework in the Basque Country. The aim is to provide agents involved in proposing, designing, and implementing this type of solution with the essential foundations for their conception and deployment.

The NBS have been classified based on their scale of intervention at the municipal level, and characterised in terms of the climate challenges they address and the co-benefits they provide.

A catalogue of NBS interventions for climate adaptation is presented in this document. This includes a technical explanation of the interventions, as well as lessons learned, barriers, success factors, and practical information that it is hoped will serve as inspiration to expand the implementation of NBS to all Basque municipalities.
