The second edition of the First Experiences of Climate Change and Energy Transition Programme gets underway

The public environmental management company Ihobe and the Basque Energy Agency-EVE held the closing ceremony for the first edition of the First Experiences of Climate Change and Energy Transition Programme at an event that also saw the launch the second edition of this training programme. The initiative promoted by Ihobe, EVE, Lanbide and the Novia Salcedo Foundation, deployed by Udalsarea 2030 and funded by the LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project, is aimed at training young people in this area and helping Basque municipalities tackle the challenges related to the energy transition and climate change.

During the event, the first programme, which led to the recruitment of thirty young people specialising in climate change and energy transition for a year, has been assessed. Moreover, the general managers of Ihobe and EVE, Alexander Boto and Iñigo Ansola, have presented the participants with a diploma accrediting the training they had received. 22 organisations have taken part in the first edition of the programme (16 town councils and 6 regional organisations).

6 group meetings, 13 one-to-one hour-long sessions and self-training sessions

The second edition will start in February and run until September this year. The programme involves six group meetings with participants, in between which participants are expected to work individually at a rate of two classes per week. This means that each participant should spend approximately six hours per week. In total, around 13 hours of one-to-one meetings, eight supervised practical exercises and a final group presentation are planned.

The First Experiences of Climate Change and Energy Transition Programme responds to the need to prepare young people for environmental and energy challenges. This need stems from the recently approved Energy Transition and Climate Change Law.
